The Primary areas play a very vital role at Girls Grammar, educating young girls from Prep to Year 6.
The girls are taught in single Year group classes of no more than 20 students.
The Primary Department is housed over three buildings, the Early Learning Centre (ELC), Discovery Centre and Grant Building. The ELC is situated down from the eastern side of the main school oval. It can be accessed by stairs leading down from the oval, and parents can drop their children off from the car park in Little Athelstane Street. Situated outside this building is a large shady playground, a smaller oval, a set of shaded seats and many shady trees.
Prep to 2 are taught in the ELC. Years 3 and 4 are taught in The Discovery Centre. Year 5 and 6 are located in the Grant Building.
The Grant Building (upper floor) was refurbished in recent years to become the Upper Primary classrooms. This state of the art learning area now features a removable divider so to that class groups can join together for activities. All Primary classrooms feature a fridge in the port/foyer area so that lunches can be kept cold.
The students are taught by Primary staff along with a number of specialist teachers from the Secondary School for subjects like Japanese, Music, Dance, Drama and Art.
