A Final Word from our Principal

Well what a year it has been, topped off on Friday in true western fashion featuring cowgirls and cowboys and special appearance by a mechanical bull.  A big congratulations to the Year 11 students who organised the school party with the help of Mr Tree.  It is one of those much looked forward to events that makes Girls Grammar great. The dining room was certainly buzzing and the line was snaking back towards Luck!  We hope that all the girls and their families had a great time.

Thursday night I was able to attend the graduation ceremony for the Year 6 class.  It was a wonderful celebration and recap of what was a great year for the girls.  The girls presented a year in review and I was very impressed with their language and speaking.  They further impressed us all with a great musical item, Pirates 2.  There were many animated young actresses in the group who seemed to relish the role of plundering pirate.   Great work girls and thank you to Ms Dawes and Ms Anger for their work with the girls and Mr Cheers and Mr Cook for their technical support.   The evening was a wonderful celebration of the time these girls have spent in primary school and we wish them every success into the future as they begin High School.  It will be a time of change for them all, especially as the class will almost double in size next year venturing into Year 7.

As we head into the holidays, I would like to farewell those of you who are relocating or moving away to new horizons.  We send our best wishes to our staff who are leaving us and warmly welcome back some of our ‘old hands’ and some new ones.  It promises to be a busy couple of professional development days this week.

I hope that you all stay safe over these holidays.  Given the damage the fires have created, let’s hope for some rain.  Broader rain generally is very much needed and I hope that you all do well in that space over the Christmas break.  Enjoy the holiday break and time with family.  We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.  The school office will close on Friday 14 December and reopen on Monday 7 January.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Ms Christine Hills (Principal)
