Year 6 Balloons
To help change the way we speak to each other in our school, our Year 6 class took part in an activity in which we blew up some balloons in a variety of sizes. We then hung these balloons up on the ceiling in our classroom as a reminder that our words can hurt other people’s feelings by ‘bursting their bubble’.

While it was fun to decorate our classroom with colourful balloons, this activity was in fact a way to remind us all to be respectful towards others. It was special to have a balloon above us. It was colourful, amazing and magnificent. It added so much colour to our classroom the class and we personally loved it.

Primary News

IMG_5760 (2)I am always amazing at the vast array of opportunities our girls get to experience at Girls Grammar. This term has been no exception. I would like to congratulate the student council representatives and our Primary Prefect, Jasmin Dwyer, on the organisation and assistance for the Gaia Festival. Each council member also had the opportunity to invite a friend which was also a fantastic help. Our teachers not only spent their day working in classrooms but also managed stalls for the evening which shows excellent commitment and passion to Girls Grammar.

I also have had the privilege of watching some of the primary choirs performing at the Eisteddfod and I couldn’t be prouder of not only the results, but the conduct of our staff and students. Well done girls – your rehearsals paid off with some amazing results.

From cultural events to sporting our girls are given every opportunity to participate and enjoy their schooling. Mr Fuller ran an amazing athletics carnival and I enjoyed watching the girls race, throw and jump! Well done – I am looking forward to the winning house announcement from Mr Fuller!

We have a variety of visitors in the school – the Commbanking Institute to talk finance fun with our girls and a fabulous Arts Council ‘Thoughts Have Feelings Too.’

Congratulations also must go to our girls in the primary school who have been participating in the ICAS non mandatory assessments. I am looking forward to the results!

Have a terrific break over the winter holidays!

IMG_3055Rockhampton Girls Grammar School is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of seven members appointed by the Governor in Council: three elected by subscribers or donors to the School, and four nominated by the Minister for Education and Training, in consultation with the Board.

We are very pleased to announce that Ms Jennifer Luck, Mr Kenneth Murphy, Ms Hilarie Dunn, Mr Noel Livingston, Mr John Bryant, Mr Ross Johnson and Mrs Gail Godwin-Smith have been appointed as members to the Board of Trustees of Rockhampton Girls Grammar School.

The School gratefully acknowledges the significant commitment and contribution of the outgoing Board members who did not seek reappointment, Mrs Vicki Bastin-Byrne, Dr Bobby Harreveld and Mr Mark Wilson, and welcomes the new Board members. No doubt the strong governance stewardship of the School will continue during the coming four-year term, building on the significant work of the past as we enter in the 125th year of Rockhampton Girls Grammar School.
