As we approach the end of term, it's an ideal moment to celebrate the remarkable achievements and growth that have defined the past seven weeks. Term 3 has been full of immense energy, creativity, and pride, with so many students and staff members contributing to the vibrant spirit of our school community. The dedication shown in both curricular and cocurricular pursuits highlights our commitment to the holistic development of each student.
Throughout the term, our students have immersed themselves in a diverse range of activities, showcasing their individual and collective talents. The highly anticipated Inter-House Choir, Netball and Reading Challenges provided a platform for students (and staff) to express their creativity, teamwork and some friendly rivalry. The enthusiasm displayed during lunchtime rehearsals, where younger students joined hands with Seniors and House Prefects, was truly heartening.
Academically, our students have continued to engage thoughtfully with their studies. The Year 10 camp and senior subject selection interviews were key moments early in the term, where students took significant steps in shaping their future academic pathways. Your maturity, focus, and active involvement in these processes are commendable and reflect the high standards we hold at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School.
Our students' artistic and theatrical talents were on full display during 'Legally Blonde Junior the Musical.' Whether performing on stage or working diligently behind the scenes, each student's contribution was vital in bringing this production to life. The result was a stunning showcase of creativity, teamwork, and the joy that permeates our school.
National Science Week saw our students' curiosity and academic focus come to the forefront, with activities that engaged all year levels. Last week, Book Week coupled with the annual Inter-House Reading Challenge further demonstrated students’ enthusiasm for learning and the fun that comes with engagement across the year levels, Prep to Year 12. The creative costumes and a whole-school dress-up as the culminating event brought our school to life in a fun and educational way.
In the cocurricular arena, our students have excelled across various disciplines. From netball and oz-tag to the impressive success of our show team regionally, and then on a much larger stage for some at the Ekka, the breadth of talents has been truly remarkable. Our rowers, too, have made us proud by defending the Queen of the River title with the determination and spirit that define this small yet mighty group. Our Year 5 and 6 netball teams, embodied the values of resilience, teamwork, and grace under pressure and displayed incredible sportsmanship in the grand final, supporting each other and representing our school with dignity. These qualities are a reminder that winning is not the sole measure of success; rather, it is the attitude and character displayed that truly matter. Moving in to the final fortnight of Term 3, we wish our netball teams who have made it to the grand finals the best of luck, along with our touch football teams as they commence their next season over the weekend.
Our dedicated Opti-MINDS teams deserve a round of applause for taking out first place in their respective divisions at last weekend’s Regional Finals. Both teams, made up of students from Year 3 to 6 have dedicated the past five weeks to rigorous training and preparation, tackling complex challenges with creativity and determination. Congratulations girls!
Concluding this week with Daffodil Day and our Father’s Day BBQ has provided opportunities to connect, reflect and support others, further celebrating our community spirit.
Looking ahead, we wish all the father figures across our school community a very special day on Sunday, and pass on best wishes to our Year 12 students as they prepare for and sit their upcoming Mock Exams.
All the best for the final fortnight of Term 3.
