This week’s Academic Assemblies were a special occasion to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students from Semester 1 who demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies. Additionally, we recognised the remarkable academic improvement of others, demonstrating that hard work and persistence truly pays off.
With close to half of McKeague Hall filled with academic award winners at our secondary assembly, I along with fellow staff and families were extremely proud to witness students’ commitment to their academic pursuits.

At Rockhampton Girls Grammar, we hold academic success in high regard. Our school fosters a culture that values learning as a means to open doors and create countless opportunities for each of our students. As reflected in our motto, 'Non Scholae Sed Vitae,' and in the words of our school song, 'not only for school but for life we are learning,' these ideals guide everything we do.
As we celebrate students' Semester 1 accomplishments this week, it is also a time for students to reflect on the academic goals they’ve set in their Care classes, the valuable insights gained from GPA analysis, and the guidance provided by their dedicated Care mentors and class teachers. These resources are here to help students reach their full potential.
Whilst the end of the year may seem a far way off, we have already reached August and will be celebrating end of year achievements before we know it. There is no better time than the present to set new goals, proactively plan for Terms 3 and 4 ahead and make the most of the opportunities and support provided by staff.
To our academic award recipients, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Hard work, passion, and determination have brought them this well-deserved recognition. In addition to acknowledging our students, I also want to thank our teachers whose dedication and expertise to their respective curriculum areas have played a crucial role in helping our students reach their goals.

Our teachers' commitment to teaching goes beyond the classroom, extending into guidance, mentorship, and encouragement, helping our students discover their strengths and nurturing their talents. It is through their expertise and care that our girls can explore various cocurricular and cultural pursuits, contributing to their holistic development, which is of the utmost importance to us at Girls Grammar.
I look forward to celebrating our students’ achievements and successes across their diverse cocurricular and cultural endeavours throughout the upcoming semester, starting with an immense display of talent on show at this weekend’s School Musical, Legally Blonde!
