Celebrating the Class of 2024: A Magical Year 12 Formal

On Saturday 25 May, the Rockhampton Girls Grammar School community came together to celebrate a milestone event for the Class of 2024: the Year 12 Formal. The day was filled with excitement, elegance, and a strong sense of community, beginning with a lively walkthrough at the school and culminating in a spectacular evening at the Australian Shearing Shed at the Rockhampton Heritage Village.

The festivities kicked off with the much-anticipated walkthrough at the school. This year, our Year 12 girls made their grand entrance in a variety of unique vehicles, ranging from sleek motorbikes to the classic Australian back of a ute. The diverse modes of arrival added a touch of personality and flair to the event, reflecting the individuality and creativity of our students. It was a joy to see the girls, dressed in their beautiful gowns, making their way through the school grounds, greeted by cheers and applause from their peers, families, and staff.

Following the walkthrough, the celebration moved to the Australian Shearing Shed at the Rockhampton Heritage Village. The venue, with its rustic charm and historic ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The girls of the Class of 2024, resplendent in their elegant gowns, were the epitome of grace and sophistication.

The evening's program was masterfully guided by our Year 12 Care Mentors, Scott Fuller and Emily Alley, whose engaging and heartfelt MCing set the tone for the night. Their dedication and support for the Year 12 girls shone through, making the event even more special.

The formal dinner was a culinary delight, thanks to Olive Catering. Their exquisite menu not only satisfied but impressed, adding a gourmet touch to the evening's festivities. As the girls and their guests enjoyed the meal, they were serenaded by the

talented duo, Kyle and Celeste. Their musical performance created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, encouraging many to take to the dance floor.

The evening also featured a touching Vote of Thanks delivered by Jessica Chapman. Her words captured the gratitude of the entire Year 12 cohort, acknowledging the effort and support of everyone involved in making the night a success.

A special thank you goes out to our Year 11 students, who played a crucial role in the evening's success. Their assistance with the setup and serving of dinner was invaluable and showcased the strong sense of community and teamwork that is a hallmark of our school.

Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the countless staff members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every detail was perfect. Your dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated by all.

The 2024 Year 12 Formal was more than just an evening of glitz and glamour; it was a celebration of hard work, friendship, and the bright future that lies ahead for our graduates. It was a night filled with joy, laughter, and a few tears as we celebrated the incredible journey of the Class of 2024.

As we look back on this magical evening, we are reminded of the strength and spirit of our Girls Grammar community. Congratulations to our Year 12 girls - you have made us all incredibly proud, and we look forward to seeing the amazing things you will accomplish in the future.

Here’s to the Class of 2024!
