It has been an exciting and educational start to Term 2 at Girls Grammar, as we continue our journey toward becoming an accredited Brainwise School. Our dedication to exploring neuroscience and its applications in education remains steadfast as we strive to provide the best learning experiences for our students.
This week we delved into the realms of neuroscience, leadership, coaching and community engagement, with Dr Judi Newman as she continued to immerse our staff in the fascinating world of educational neuroscience. Dr Newman's insights have not only expanded our understanding of how the brain works but also provided valuable perspectives on how we can enhance learning experiences for our students.
In a wonderful display of dedication and collaboration, eight of our teachers, ranging from Primary through to Secondary, generously volunteered their time to lead our school in exploring the principles of neuroscience through a full day’s Train the Trainer workshop. Their commitment to professional development and passion for enriching education are truly commendable, and we are grateful for their contributions. From here they will support the leadership team in embedding evidence based Brainwise pedagogy amongst their teaching colleagues, modelling best practice to enhance the academic engagement of our students.
The engagement and professional learning continued this week as our Executive Team and Directors engaged in the first of four days of leadership and coaching training, further enhancing their skills and expertise in guiding our school towards excellence as a Brainwise school. Investing in the continuous growth and development of our school’s leadership ensures that we are equipped to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of education, particularly in the space of educational neuroscience. Our focus on embedding the practices of neuroscience at Girls Grammar has been further reaffirmed with the recent announcement of brain science and learning being added to tertiary learning for graduate teachers from 2026. It is exciting to know that we will be on the front foot in such a vital space for our staff and students.
In addition to these enriching learning experiences, we are thrilled to announce that this week marks three days of enrolment interviews. It's been heartwarming to witness the influx of prospective families eager to join our vibrant school community.
As we reflect on this week's activities, we are reminded of the profound impact that collaboration, learning, and community engagement can have on shaping the educational experience. Together, we are not just building a school; we are cultivating a nurturing environment where every individual can thrive and succeed.
