In the recent September holidays, Charlotte, Summer and Harriet attended the Queensland University of Technology's (QUT) 2023 Future You Summit in Brisbane. The Future You STEM Summit program generated significant interest, with more than 370 applications received from students state-wide. We had the opportunity to expand our skill sets beyond the classroom and explore future career ambitions with like-minded peers. With access to QUT’s world-class facilities across both campuses, we engaged in discipline sessions relative to our chosen field of interest, ranging from Zombie Busters involving contract tracing of a deadly outbreak to designing future innovations for major corporation partners such as BMW. Each stream had the opportunity to work in small class groups with QUT university lecturers whilst engaging with Student Ambassadors and current QUT students from various fields of study, depicting the multifaceted aspects of university life and study. Our experience was further enhanced through the involvement of guest speakers such as Mark Dutton, V8 Supercar Team Manager and Gemma Alker, the Director of Innovation for Brisbane City.
