Prep
In Week 4, the Prep class hosted their first 'Prep Stay and Play’, where parents joined us in the classroom for an hour of fun and learning. Together, we explored exciting activities like games with our learnt sounds, counting and threading, matching pictures with sounds, small world play, and many fine motor challenges. It was wonderful to see everyone engaged and enjoying the hands-on experiences. We also had a special visit from our school guests - Mrs Krehlik, Mrs King, Dr Fry, and Mrs Goltz - who made the event even more memorable. We can’t wait for our next classroom event, celebrating Very Hungry Caterpillar Day!
Year 4
Year 4 has hit the ground running this term with an exciting mix of activities and investigations! In Science, we had a special visit from a cockatiel as part of our unit on life cycles and relationships. Seeing the bird up close helped us understand how animals grow, change, and interact with their environment. We also explored the concept of fair testing while investigating the best water filter - learning how to conduct experiments with accuracy and fairness. For Valentine’s Day, we took a historical twist by researching famous world explorers. Each student chose an explorer, uncovering their incredible journeys and discoveries. Of course, no term would be complete without Sunny, who has been back in action—working hard… or hardly working? We’ll let you decide!
Life Education Visits
The Life Education program is a health and drug education program in Australian schools and preschools. The program helps students make safer and healthier choices by building awareness and teaching skills. Students in all primary classrooms were able to visit Liz and Harold last week, either in the van or in their classrooms.
This program aims to build social and emotional skills, develop empathy in our students and teaches them how to communicate respectfully, make safer and healthier choices, and build resilience.
Topics covered throughout the classes included:
Physical health, including nutrition, sleep, and physical activity
Safety, including sun safety, water safety, and road safety
Social and emotional wellbeing
Online safety, including strategies to recognise and report unsafe situations
Cyberbullying
Physical developmental changes

Life Skills Go Program

Mental health plays a crucial role in the wellbeing and success of our primary school students. Recognising the importance of fostering emotional resilience, we are excited to introduce the Life Skills Go program across the Primary sector. This innovative initiative aims to equip students with essential life skills, including emotional regulation, mindfulness, and effective communication. By integrating this program into the curriculum, we are committed to providing our students with the tools they need to navigate challenges and thrive both academically and personally.

Primary Council
As we embark on another exciting year, we are delighted to introduce the newly appointed Primary Council members for 2025 who were acknowledged at the Primary Investiture Ceremony in Week 3. Students were required to create a speech, present it to the class and were elected by their peers. Each member has been chosen to represent and advocate for the needs of our students in their cohort.

The Primary Council members met last week and are already underway organising and assisting with two events for Term 1. The Early Years Tea Party is being held in March and the annual Easter Bonnet Parade and activities on the final day of term. It is great to see some fresh ideas and suggestions for these events.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, guided by the dedication and enthusiasm of our Primary Council members. Stay tuned for updates on initiatives, events, and ways to get involved!
With so much happening already, we can't wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
