Capital Works Update
The Covered Court is well underway with fencing erected, concrete laid for the pad footings, and the electrical pit completed. The block layer has commenced the retaining wall and the structural steel erection is projected to commence on 24 October 2022 and is expected to take two weeks. The final designs including the colours for the competition-grade flooring have been confirmed and we await the ordered sports equipment from Grand Slam.
Final design plans have been confirmed for the Upper Paterson Northern wing restoration. The School is proudly working with Tony Madden Architects to complete the architectural services.
The Agricultural program will see a new AGPlot being developed behind the Early Learning Centre. This will ensure plenty of sunlight for their plants to grow and allow for growth in this department with a larger-scale plot allocated.
New Additions
In addition to the 12 new outdoor picnic tables across the school, we have ensured all tables now have a bright yellow umbrella to provide shade. Students love the new addition and it really adds a great pop of colour around the grounds.
The successful winner of the Interhouse Recycling Competition is Williams House who will have a combined raised total of $1210.20 to spend on their nominated product or service for facilities, sporting equipment or other requirements for the school community. We look forward to hearing what Williams House decides upon!
Over the holidays, McKeague Hall was revamped with a re-sand and polish of the hall floor, additional light bars installed for the stage and the upper Science lab floors replaced. Both science labs were also fitted with an additional work bench to support the increase in student numbers.
Catering and Canteen
Term 4 is a busy period for all departments, however, our Catering department not only caters to the Boarding and Day student requirements but also all internal events held at the School and tries to celebrate as many calendared theme days as possible. On Tuesday, Raelene ensured our students celebrated National Chocolate Cupcake Day! They enjoyed scrumptious cupcakes specially made and decorated by our Catering team.
Community
For the month of October, our Maintenance department traditionally lights up Paterson House in PINK in honour of breast cancer awareness. If you haven’t yet seen it, make sure to take a drive up Denham Street at night before the end of the month. It has also been said that Paterson House in pink can be seen from Mt Archer.
We are a proud School, with proud traditions and this one is a personal favourite of mine.
