Primary Social
The Primary Social event was held on Friday 17 May with 97 students coming along to enjoy a disco.
The event commenced at 5.30pm, with attendees arriving dressed as something that starts with the first letter of their name. Once everyone had arrived, we had some time to dance and play a variety of games.
For Belle Brandon, Primary Council member, one of her highlights was the opportunity to meet more students. The games organised by Bethany were a hit with a favourite being Four Corners.
Students gathered at different times by year levels to enjoy a sausage, popper and some snacks. Thank you to Parkhurst Quality Meats and our cook for the delicious meal and sausages cooked to perfection.
Funds raised from the social are being donated to the Starlight Foundation. As the country’s most trusted children’s charity, Starlight families can rely on this organisation to bring fun, joy and laughter when it is needed most. Starlight helps kids of all ages regardless of disability, injury or illness because what happens in childhood lasts a lifetime. $194 will go towards brightening the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and young people.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff members and parents who attended and assisted with the event. Your help was greatly appreciated.
Primary Fundraiser
As part of the social donation to the Starlight Foundation donation, students in the Primary Council will be selling Zooper Doopers at the Prep to Year 3 Athletics carnival on Monday 17 June. Students across the school are able to come to the Discovery Centre at morning tea to purchase an ice block for 50 cents to help support this worthwhile charity.
National Simultaneous Storytime
Students from Prep to Year 6 joined 2,341,490 other young readers across Australia and New Zealand in 21,969 locations for this year's National Simultaneous Storytime. The featured book, "Bowerbird Blues," was read live by its talented author, Aura Parker. This captivating tale follows a beautiful bowerbird on his quest for blue, weaving a heartfelt story of longing and connection as he journeys across the sea, sky, and city.
After the reading, our students got creative by colouring their own bookmarks to use in their future reading adventures. Some classes continue with activities in their own rooms to create beautiful displays.
