Students in the primary school enjoyed listening to a story live from Sydney Zoo along with the rest of the Nation for National Simultaneous Storytime. ‘The Speedy Sloth’ written by Rebecca Young was read to the students who joined together to share the story for 2023 along with 2 357 969 people across the country. As there are no sloths in Australia, the event had a guest Koala. Illustrator, Heath McKenzie also showed everyone how to draw a sloth.
National Simultaneous Storytime is a yearly event which Girls Grammar has participated in for several years and encourages students to increase their love of reading and books. After the reading, students enjoyed combining together to complete various activities with the assistance of the Year 5 and 6 students which included colouring, word search, crossword, hanging sloth and paper sloth. These items will be displayed in our school library.
