Embarking on a literary journey that transcends the boundaries of imagination and knowledge, students in the Primary school were able to ‘strut their stuff’ and show off their amazing characters, books and event highlights! We were thrilled by the enchanting world of literature coming to life down the blue carpet.
Staff and students across the school were encouraged to participate this year and highlight that reading is not just a pastime; it's a key that unlocks the doors to endless possibilities. Books are like treasure chests filled with information waiting to be discovered. They provide insights into diverse topics, cultures, and perspectives, expanding our horizons and enriching our minds.
When we read, we step into new worlds, visualise characters and settings, and create images that are uniquely our own. Imagination is the catalyst that encourages us to dream big and think creatively.
Literature also introduces us to characters from all walks of life, helping us understand different viewpoints and fostering empathy. By connecting with characters' experiences, we become more compassionate and open-minded individuals.
Our school-wide reading challenge encouraged students to dive into books from various genres with a competition to see which house could read the most books. Different year levels had different criteria to be able to collect points.
This year with the theme ‘READ, GROW, INSPIRE’, primary students have planted a Golden Penda at the bottom carpark. Students will be responsible for looking after the plant and watching it grow, as they too, grow. Hopefully this will inspire students to take up the challenge, continue reading and using this life-long skill, and realise reading is an adventure, a learning experience, and a journey of self-discovery.
