Morcombe Family Online Child Safety Lesson

It’s all about consent!

Some of the primary school (even Year 6 who were on camp!) eagerly tuned in to a live and engaging online child safety lesson hosted by the Morcombe family. The topic was consent, a crucial aspect of personal boundaries and respect. Through relatable scenarios and age-appropriate explanations, the girls began to grasp the concept of consent, understanding the importance of saying "yes" or "no" freely and without pressure. Their animated discussions showcased their growing awareness of boundaries, empowering them to speak up and protect themselves.

The 'Twits' - Pilbeam Theatre

The Year 3 and 4 girls had a fantastic time at the Pilbeam Theatre, enjoying Roald Dahl's 'The Twits' as part of their English unit. As the curtains rose and the story unfolded, we couldn't help but be enchanted by the valuable lesson it imparted – "good thoughts shine out of your face like sunbeams." The show's hilarious antics of Mr. and Mrs. Twit, with their clever and mischievous practical jokes, had us in stitches of laughter. It was a performance to remember!

Year 4 Camp

Year 4 had a fantastic annual sleepover at the MMPH (Mouritz Multi-Purpose School Hall) on Monday night! Camping out in the school hall can be such an exciting experience for young students and we certainly had a fun time. Eating in the boarders' dining room felt like a special treat, and the quick wander around the school in the dark probably added an extra element of adventure to the evening. Everyone did a good job making their beds and getting a reasonable night's sleep even after watching a movie with a monster in it! As always Mrs Hemson needed her coffee first thing but luckily, she had Mrs Hull on board to help.

The next morning, some students were up bright and early for an exciting activity - seeing a live show of 'The Twits' at the Pilbeam Theatre. It's fantastic we had the opportunity to watch a live performance after reading the book earlier in the school year. The show was lively funny and definitely entertaining! Decorating a pillowcase as a memento of the sleepover is a tangible reminder of this special night for the students. As always, the students' behaviour was exemplary, and they displayed beautiful manners, kindness, and teamwork throughout the sleepover. These values are essential for creating a positive and enjoyable environment for everyone involved. Overall, Year 4 had a memorable and enriching experience during their annual sleepover, making great memories and fostering a sense of camaraderie among the students.

Year 5 Camp

In an exciting adventure, our Year 5 students embarked on a memorable camp journey this week. The day commenced with a trip to Emu Park, where they had the opportunity to explore the ANZAC Memorial and enjoy some leisure time at the playground and the beach.

Their next destination was Coolwaters Yeppoon. Here, the girls made a splash in the pool and bounced with joy on the jumping pillow. But it wasn't all fun and games; the students also gained valuable knowledge on providing CPR using the DRSABCD method, showcasing their commitment to learning and safety. As the evening descended, they engaged in a trivia night, fostering teamwork. The following day, their journey continued as they set off for Cooberrie Park, eagerly anticipating the unique wildlife experiences and to play some mini golf.

This camp was not only a source of enjoyable memories but also a stepping stone in their journey towards becoming Year 6 leaders in 2024.

Year 6 Camp

Excitement was in the air as Year 6 students, Mrs Goltz and Miss Harwood headed off for the much-anticipated Year 6 camp at NRMA Mulambin! Set against the picturesque backdrop of Mulambin Beach, this adventure-packed camp promised to be an unforgettable experience. From thrilling activities to delicious food, this camp had it all!

Some of the adventurous activity highlights included:

  • Fishing

  • Swimming

  • Jumping Pillow

  • Teams Building Activities

  • Nature Walk

  • Movies

  • Day For Daniel Activities

  • How To Fish Sustainably

  • Activity Booklet

  • Heritage Village Tour

  • Croquet

  • Beach Scavenger Hunt

In the pristine waters of Mulambin Beach, our budding anglers learnt the art of fishing while enjoying the serenity of the sea. There was a great deal of excitement from the students as they caught their first ever fish.

Students engaged in a series of fun and challenging team activities on the beach that tested their cooperation skills but also strengthened their bonds with classmates. They led their peers in various activities, boosting confidence and leadership skills.

Some free time saw the students bounce their heart out on the giant jumping pillow! It was not only exhilarating but also a fantastic way to expend energy, or a quick splash in the pool. The beautiful weather allowed for students to also enjoy an outdoor cinema experience watching Finding Nemo. The next day the girls had a choice to watch either Lilo and Stitch or Barbie Princess and the Pauper.

This Year 6 camp was not just an adventure; it was an opportunity for students to grow, learn, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
