Girls Grammar Principal, Kara Krehlik, Requests Help for Race Day and School Survey

The 21st annual Girls Grammar Race Day is just around the corner, taking place on Saturday, 17 June. However, we find ourselves in urgent need of your support to make this day a resounding success. The days leading up to the event and the day itself require a dedicated team of volunteers to assist with preparations, setting up, serving, and packing down.

While a volunteer form was sent out via email to all parents, staff, and students, we are still desperately seeking additional help. This year, the Race Day committee, which has been in charge for the past 20 years, decided to step down. However, a newly formed committee, comprising a handful of dedicated staff and two parents, has taken the reins. We have extended an invitation to anyone and everyone to join the committee, but the response has been minimal. Regrettably, if we don't receive more assistance, we may have to consider the difficult decision of discontinuing Race Day after this year's event. This would be a significant loss for our School as Race Day has always been our largest fundraising event for the School Building Fund and holds great sentimental value as a cherished tradition.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to those who have already volunteered to help out. If you are still interested in contributing, we kindly request you to fill out this form. Your support will be instrumental in ensuring the success and continuation of this important event.

In other Race Day updates, the committee made the decision last week to remove the Party Pavilion as a ticket option due to low sales. This third section under the the Betting Ring will no longer be available. However, we have added a new affordable option for attendees: a $35 ticket that grants access to the Amateurs Lounge. Please note that this ticket does not include food or drinks, but it provides entry to an air-conditioned venue with a fantastic view of the track. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase food and beverages from the bar on the day.

Alternatively, you can purchase tickets for the Amateurs Lounge with a food and beverage package included at the price of $165 per ticket. The menu will feature a wide range of delectable canapés, complemented by a comprehensive drinks package.

For those seeking a premium experience, non-sponsored tables can be purchased for $2,500 in The Marquee. This option includes a three-course sit-down meal prepared by our esteemed Head Chef Kent Reid, accompanied by a premium beverage package.

Furthermore, we are still actively seeking local business sponsors to support our event in The Marquee. A table sponsorship costs $3,000, which covers a three-course meal and beverage package for 10 people, along with 2 bottles of chilled champagne at your table. Your business will also receive marketing exposure throughout the event. To enquire about sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to us via email at marketingandevents@rggs.qld.edu.au.

Even if you are unable to attend the event, you can still participate by purchasing raffle tickets, which are priced at $5 each or 5 for $20 from this link. Pre-sales of tickets provide an opportunity for more Girls Grammar community members to win fabulous prizes, and the ability to raise more funds for our ongoing restoration and refurbishment of our School. Prizes can be collected after the event from Reception, making this a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be involved.

We encourage you to invite your friends to join us for a day filled with racing, refreshments and enjoyable company. Don't forget that the After Party will kick off at 4.00pm, featuring live music by MotherLove trackside!

To secure your place at the premier Race Day event on the Rockhampton Calendar, you can purchase tickets here.

In addition to Race Day preparations, I would like to remind you about our annual School Survey. Last Monday, all parents received a personalised login link and instructions to participate. The survey is an invaluable opportunity for us to gather feedback and insights from our parent body. We kindly request you to complete the survey by this Sunday, 11 June. Currently, less than 30% of parents have participated, and we highly value your input to help us evaluate our progress, identify areas of success, and make necessary adjustments for improvement.

If you haven't received the survey link, please check your spam and junk email folders as it will be sent from the external service provider, MYP Corporation. Your responses are confidential, and no member of the Executive team will have access to individual answers. Only a summary of collated results will be provided.

On behalf of the Executive team, I would like to express our gratitude in advance for taking the time to provide us with this important feedback for our School.

Together, let's make the 21st Girls Grammar Race Day a memorable success!
