Our school community recently came together for two important annual events supporting the Australian Cancer Council: the Ponytail Chop and Pink Day. Both events highlight our school’s commitment to raising funds and awareness for cancer, a cause that touches many of our lives in one way or another.
Ponytail Chop Success
On Wednesday, 9 October, Girls Grammar held its annual Ponytail Chop, which was once again a huge success. Fourteen brave students and three dedicated staff members “rocked the chop” by cutting their hair to support the Cancer Council. This year, the privilege of making the first chop was auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going toward the cause. In a phenomenal display of generosity, our small school community raised a massive $13,296 showing that no effort is too small when it comes to making a difference.
A special thank you goes out to the following students and staff who participated in this year’s Ponytail Chop: Mckayla Barnes, Tahlia Crocker, Ariana Benson, Jess Chapman, Tyla Cox, Keslie Bennett, Joyce Fargher, Molly Deller-Smith, Summer Krebs, Matilda Passmore, Sophie Cutting, Ella Fort, Ellexis Heilig, Calli McRae, Miss Kate Knowles, Miss Jess Dawes, and Ms Donna Bennett. We are also incredibly grateful to the local hairdressers who volunteered their time to style everyone’s new looks. Their support and time each year is invaluable, and we appreciate their dedication to this cause.
