Queensland Rowing Team
In January this year Georgia took part in the trials for the Queensland School Pathway Squad at the Queensland Club State Championships. To be selected, rowers had to submit a 2km rowing ergo time and then complete a 1.5km on water time trial at the state championships. The top 16 under 19 girls and the top 16 under 19 boys were selected to go into two eights boats. Georgia’s two times were good enough to have her selected in one of the two Queensland girls’ teams.
From here, there was a three da`y long training camp on the Brisbane river in mid-April where all the Queensland teams came together to train multiple times a day. This provided the crews a valuable chance to develop their teamwork and race strategies. With sweeps rowing not very common in our area, this was valuable experience for Georgia going into the Australian Selection Trial.
The Queensland teams went to Penrith in NSW to compete in the Australian selection regatta. They competed against teams from WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and VIC. Georgia and her teammates had a successful regatta placing runner up in the B Final.
Congratulations on your achievements Georgia!
