On Monday and Tuesday, 35 athletes represented Girls Grammar at the Rockhampton and District Sport Athletics Trials at North Rockhampton High School.
With the carnival being postponed from the previous week, it was a tough ask to fit three days of events into just two days. Our girls did a great job at organising themselves and getting to their events (sometimes two events at the same time) on time.
Due to events running simultaneously, final placings were not announced on the day. However, we did have some great results and we are eagerly waiting the Rockhampton Team selection list to come out. Students that are selected for the RDS team will attend the Capricornia Trial at Mackay on 21 and 22 August.
Some notable performances over the course of the two days were:
Jasmine Beck 2nd place in the 800m
Havana McConachy 1st in High Jump
Rose Brandon 1st in the 1500m and 3rd in the 800m
Kaylyn Mosby 1st in High Jump and the 200m
Izabella Bird 1st in Discus
Charlotte Crawford 2nd in Shot Put
Charlie Mallyon 2nd in the 1500m and 2nd in the 800m
Beryl Toby 1st in the 200m
Dale Lewis 1st in Javelin
Thanks to Mrs Goltz and Ms McKelvie for your work at the tent and ensuring all athletes were warmed up and at events on time, to Mr Fuller for his work running girls javelin while Mrs Doherty was running high jump, and to the grounds staff for setting up our tent area, and to Tilly and Zach for your efforts with the transport. Finally, thanks to all the students for your effort and behaviour throughout the carnival, you were exceptional and have represented Girls Grammar to the highest standard.
