We are thrilled to highlight the remarkable achievements of Norah Cowley from Rockhampton Girls Grammar School, a proud graduate of the Deadly Start Traineeship Program. This program empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to earn their Certificate III in Health Assistance Services while gaining invaluable on-the-job experience.
Recently, Norah's achievements were celebrated during the vibrant graduation ceremony for the 2023/2024 Deadly Start Traineeship Program. This uplifting event brought together family, friends, mentors, teachers and representatives from Seed Foundation, Queensland Health, Connect'N'Grow, all there to honour the hard work and dedication of our graduates. Each student, including Norah, was presented with a certificate, symbolising their commitment and resilience throughout their journey.
Over the past year, Norah engaged in hands-on skill development, working diligently as a school based trainee under the guidance of her supervisor. To earn her qualification, she successfully completed a minimum of 375 hours (or 50 days) of paid work, positioning her well for a promising career within the healthcare industry.
Seed extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible support team that guided Norah and her peers, including Deb Turner, the Seed PSO Pathway Support Officer; Brian McKean, the Learner and Development Advisor for Queensland Health; Veronica Miller-Waugh, the Transition & Academic Support Officer for Rockhampton Girls Grammar School and Luanne Donohoe CNG Trainer. Their unwavering dedication has played a pivotal role in the success of these students including Norah.
The graduation was not just a ceremony; it was a celebration of cultural pride and the bright futures awaiting our graduates. Leaders and representatives shared inspiring words of encouragement and pride, emphasising the significant impact Norah and her fellow graduates will make as they embark on their careers in healthcare. We are incredibly proud of Norah and all the graduates for their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued success in the future!
