The echoes of cheers, the splash of water, and the camaraderie that filled the air marked an unforgettable day at our 10 Years to Open Interhouse Swimming Carnival on Friday. With an abundance of enthusiasm and a sea of colourful house caps and shirts, everyone came together to celebrate athleticism and sportsmanship.
It was a day filled with impressive displays of skill and determination as our students dived into various swimming events. From the freestyle sprints to the individual medleys, each race showcased the incredible talents of our budding aquatic athletes. The cheers from the crowd amplified the sense of competition and camaraderie, turning the pool into a stage for both individual excellence and team spirit.
The poolside buzzed with anticipation as swimmers showcased their speed and technique, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats. Some highlights include the intense competition that emerged in the Open girls with very close 1st and 2nd places in every event between Saphron and Taylor, and the blistering pace set in two record breaking relay races with Downs in the Opens and Williams in the 13 Years. We also have some new students to Girls Grammar this year and their swimming prowess has really heated up competition in the 10 Years, 12 Years, 14 Years and 15 Years age groups. We had a flurry of new records set by individual swimmers, with some swimmers smashing the old record.

While the focus was undoubtedly on competition, the carnival also emphasised the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. High-fives, words of encouragement, and shared laughter were abundant, creating an atmosphere of support and encouragement. The true spirit of the carnival lay not just in winning, but in the mutual respect and friendship that permeated the event.
Behind the scenes, a special thank you goes out to our dedicated teachers and student volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the carnival. Their commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging environment contributed immensely to the success of the event.
Age Champions, House Spirit Award and Champion House will be awarded on assembly next week.
