It has been a busy but exciting week for our Girls Grammar PNGAus Secondary Schools Partnership team. Year 9 students, Andie Lang and Nylah Torova along with Mrs Goltz, Mrs Dey and Dr Fry travelled to Melbourne last Saturday for the second part of our partnership program with St Mary’s Asitavi in Bougainville, PNG. We continued our work on a joint STEM project on water conservation which will see the introduction of conservation measures at St Marys along with water awareness initiatives at both schools. The highlight of the trip was Nylah’s participation in a prestigious Lowy Institute panel discussion on the impact of STEM education in PNG and Australian schools. The gathering at the National Gallery of Victoria was attended by Mr Bruce Davis, Australia’s High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea as well as the Deputy Commissioner of PNG. This week, we have welcomed St Mary’s Year 9 students Nathalie Sinta and Sherliane Sawan along with teachers and leaders Herman Saet, Juliana Kimit and Mary Koisen. Over this week, we are working closely with our guests on sharing curriculum and teaching along with raising Girls Grammar’s global citizenship awareness. This project will continue in 2020 and we will be encouraging new team members to become involved. Watch this space…
