2025 Representative School Sport Calendar and Nomination Procedures Update
The draft 2025 Representative School Sport Calendar indicates a packed Term 1 schedule for team selections. With a significantly higher number of Capricornia trials scheduled, all Rockhampton and District School (RDS) trials have been moved forward to fit this busy timeframe.
Important Information on Trial Dates and Submission Deadlines
Once the finalised trial calendars are released, they will be sent via email to parents and posted on the Girls Grammar website under Resources in the Rockhampton and District School Sport section. Reminders for trials will also appear in Student Café daily notices, so students should check these each day.
If your daughter plans to trial for the Rockhampton team (and potentially represent Capricornia or Queensland) in any of the following sports, please ensure the 2025 Representative School Sport Permission Details Booklet is submitted before the end of the 2024 school year. This is crucial since several RDS trials occur at the end of 2024 or in Weeks 1 or 2 of Term 1.
Cricket 15-19 Years (trial on 11 November 2024 – booklet due by 6 November)
Volleyball
Softball 13-19 Years
Netball 10-12 Years & 13-19 Years
AFL 13-19 Years
Tennis 10-19 Years
Additional trials occurring early in Term 1 include:
Rugby League 13-18 Years
Basketball 13-19 Years
Football (Soccer) 13-19 Years
Hockey 10-12 Years
Note: Booklets can be submitted any time before trials, not just by the deadline week. To avoid missed deadlines, we encourage early submissions for any trials your daughter may want to participate in next year, even if the trial date is later in the year.
Submission Process for the Permission Details Booklet
The booklet must be completed electronically and emailed to Sport@rggs.qld.edu.au for school signatures. Each sport your daughter trials for will require a new, individual booklet. Here’s how the process works:
Download and Complete: Download the 2025 Representative School Sport Permission Details Booklet from the Capricornia School Sport website at https://capsport.eq.edu.au/support-and-resources/forms-and-documents. Complete one booklet per sport.
Email for School Signatures: Once filled, email the booklet to Sport@rggs.qld.edu.au . The Director of Sport and Principal will sign, and your daughter will be nominated for the trial before the closing date.
Bring a Printed Copy to Trials: Your daughter will receive a printed copy to bring to the trial, which must be handed to the team manager before the trial starts. Note: No booklet = no trial.
Logistics: Day students are responsible for their own transport to trials. Boarders will have transport arranged by the Director of Sport. Boarding students must order their packed lunch from the kitchen ahead of the trial day.
Notification of Selection: If your daughter is selected for the RDS team, you will receive an email directly from the RDS administrator with all details, including dates, venues, and payment information for Capricornia trials. Please forward this email to Sport@rggs.qld.edu.au so we can notify Student Services of her upcoming absence and arrange boarding logistics as needed.
Athletics and Cross Country: No booklet is required until after our school carnival, as selections for these sports will be based on results from the Girls Grammar carnival and RDS qualifying standards.
Additional Notes
This information applies only to District and Regional Representative teams. Girls interested in joining Girls Grammar sports teams for club or interschool competitions (including Girls Grammar teams for QISSN, Oztag All Schools and All Schools Touch) will have the opportunity to sign up during the Cocurricular Expo in Week 1 of Term 1, 2025.
Capricornia Representatives
Congratulations to Abbey Walker and Kaylyn Mosby for their recent Capricornia Representation.
Abbey attended the State Titles for Futsal in Toowoomba from 17-20 October. Abbey performed well throughout the tournament and was a powerhouse in defence for her team, earning herself the player of the match award against Darling Downs in their 2nd game. Well done Abbey.
Kaylyn attended the State Athletics Carnival in Brisbane from 11-14 October. Kaylyn had an outstanding few days of competition placing 4th in long jump with a personal best of 5.08m and 5th in triple jump with a leap of 10.52m. Some very impressive results, great work Kaylyn.
