Representative Selections
The year has kicked off with plenty of action in the sporting arena! Over the first six weeks of Term 1, more than 35 Rockhampton and District Representative trials have taken place, with some sports already progressing to their Capricornia trials.

We’ve been sharing updates on student selections in our fortnightly newsletter, and we’d like to congratulate the following girls on their recent RDS Football selections. Best of luck to them as they prepare for their upcoming Capricornia trials:
Abbey Walker
Gemma Albert
Olivia Atkinson
Zoey Walker
With these latest selections, our total number of students making RDS teams has reached 21, with seven advancing to the Capricornia level. Many trials are still to come, so we’re optimistic about even more Capricornia selections in the weeks ahead!
Club Sport Update
Senior Club Oztag finally got underway in Week 5 after a delayed start due to weather. We have two teams competing in the C and D Grade Ladies competitions, and both have had strong starts to the season. With some impressive wins and close-fought losses, our teams are showing great potential. This week, RGGS Hipsters dominated with a 6-1 victory, while RGGS Hashtags fell just short in a tight 2-3 game. The focus on teamwork and skill development is paying off - well done, girls!
Senior Club Touch has been in full swing since Week 3, and the RGGS Gold girls in C Grade Ladies have been improving week by week. They opened the season with an 8-0 win, followed by two tough rounds against strong opponents. However, their determination and teamwork shone through, culminating in a 7-3 victory last week. With many new players on the team, we’re excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
Club Netball is in its second week of grading games, and it’s fantastic to see the program growing to 12 teams this year! While grading games don’t count toward overall season standings, our teams have already enjoyed some impressive wins. Keep an eye on RGGS Starburst, RGGS Comets, and RGGS Eclipse, as well as RGGS Galaxy, which will be competing in the 2025 QISSN tournament. Some teams have secured 20+ point wins in their first two rounds - an exciting sign of what’s to come!
Interschool Sport Update
Interschool Rugby 7s has completed its first three weeks of competition, with teams playing two games each Thursday. Our girls have demonstrated incredible skill and speed, competing in the 14yrs, 16yrs, and 18yrs divisions. Some standout performances so far include:
Open Girls’ dominant wins over Mount Morgan High (54-0) and TCC (30-10), a nail-biting victory against St Ursula’s by just three points, and a thrilling one-point win over RGS
The 16s’ impressive 22-5 win against RGS
The 14s’ strong 15-5 win over TCC
Interschool Water Polo kicked off in Week 4, with both senior and junior teams competing this year. Despite having many new players, our teams are battling fiercely in the pool, often playing without substitutes—a true testament to their endurance and commitment! Notable performances include the junior team’s commanding 6-2 win over St Brendan’s Gold and their hard-fought 7-6 victory against TCC.
With so many fantastic achievements already this term, we can’t wait to see what’s next for our teams. Keep up the great work, and best of luck to all athletes in their upcoming games and trials!
