RGGS Marigold Recap
Over the weekend we watched 10 girls put together for the first time to form the U13's Rockhampton Girls Grammar School Marigold team for Cap Coast Netball Carnival. Coming out strong with nothing to lose and everything to prove, we won our first two games by 12 and 8 points respectively. Finishing day one unfortunately with a loss from an unbeaten team, we could hold our heads high knowing the team had something special.
Day 2 saw us win our first two games again, which put us in a good position for runners up overall! With a potentially serious injury, we scrambled to muster the courage and fight for our teammate, who with literally a minute to spare, got the all-clear and came out to face off in our final game; an absolute nail biter of a game, which had the crowd captivated the entire game. The to-and-fro battle between us and Yeppoon State High School, saw our opposition narrowly coming away with the win in the final minute of the game, with a final score of 11-10. Our girls finished the Carnival in equal second on points, but relegated to 3rd place on a countback.
Congratulations Abby, Ava, Brooke, Isabel, Gabbie, Gemma, Molly, Sarah, Skyla and Tailah on all of your hardwork, heart and determination over the weekend. You did yourselves, your team and the whole Girls Grammar Netball community so proud. Well done Team!
And Bridie, our RGGS Mascot/Baby Polywonga, kept on cheering and spreading joy to the teams!
