School Survey Results

Late last term the Girls Grammar School community engaged in the annual school results survey that ran from 29 May – 11 June. We are so pleased and humbled by the results that have been received from the parent body in particular. Thank you to those parents who engaged in this process to provide valuable feedback on areas for reflection, celebration and improvement helping us in continuing to build our strength as an Independent day and boarding school of choice for girls from Prep to Year 12 in Regional Queensland.

This year we received results from 230 out of 574 eligible respondents from 307 families, a response rate of 40.1%, and overall satisfaction score of 83%. In comparison to last year where we received results from 227 out of 531 eligible respondents from 289 families, a 42.7% response rate and overall satisfaction score of 81%.

Below is an overview of the key areas surveyed, satisfaction scores for each and overall survey average. Results are colour coded to indicate the level of satisfaction and as you can see from all that green, all areas this year scored by parents fall within the ‘excellent’ range!

Prior to last year, Girls Grammar hadn’t engaged in a school survey since 2017. Since then, key areas that have shown improvement from parent responses over the last six years include leadership and direction, teaching standards, student transition, learning and extension, values and culture, learning environment and parent engagement. These increases in scores are shown in the tables below.

Responses to the open ended question, 'What do you like most about Rockhampton Girls Grammar School?' reaffirmed the results above and included answers such as;

"The Speciality lessons and variety that’s offered to primary students, learning a language from Prep gives our girls an academic advantage for the future. The community feel and small class sizes provides targeted intervention and support to my child. The approachable teachers, and extra nurturing provided by them is invaluable to their (the girls) development”.

“I love how the school is providing confidence to my girls, teaching them public skills and preparing them for their future lives. Strong connections with peers, teachers and the school itself is an essence.”

“The Community spirit and atmosphere, how the girls come together to support one another.”

“My daughter feels safe and happy to engage in academic and musical opportunities. She feels safe to speak up in class and ask for help”.

“Being an all-girls school with a variety of students from different backgrounds gives them a greater perspective of the world around them”.

“We love the inclusive atmosphere, our daughter started at RGGS in grade three this year and she absolutely loves going to school. She speaks fondly of her 'big sister' and has immersed herself in extra-curricular activities, which she has not done at school previously.”

“The happy smiles on each of the students faces shows how much students enjoy attending Girls Grammar which speaks more than anything”.

“All the Staff at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School including the Executive Team, are very supportive to the students, A very rare thing, and they are doing a great job of this and I think it needs to be acknowledged and congratulated, because they are making a positive difference in the girls lives”.

From here, the Executive Team have begun a review and action plan to address the areas noted for improvement included in parent responses to the open ended questions:

  • What would you like to see improved at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School?

  • How effectively does our educational program at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School prepare your daughter for life after school?

  • What are your priorities for implementation of the School's current ten year Master Plan?

I look forward to sharing these with our community in the coming months. Until then, there is a great deal to celebrate in the responses received as we continue to strive for excellence in the holistic development of all girls, where they are supported to build an enduring sense of connection, are nurtured to be their best and develop the skills, self-belief and resilience to confidently embrace their futures.
