As the sun dipped below the horizon on the 31 October, the boarding students were in for a Halloween surprise like no other. Excitement buzzed through the dormitories as they eagerly made their way to the dining room, not knowing what to expect. Little did they know that a night of frightful fun and delectable treats awaited them.
The moment they entered the dining room, their eyes widened with astonishment. The space had been transformed into a spooky spectacle, adorned with life-sized Halloween decorations that sent chills down their spines. Cobwebs hung from the walls, witches watched as they ate, and sinister skeletons lurked in the corners. It was a Halloween lover's dream come true.
But the true star of the evening was the spine-tingling menu that awaited the students. The catering department had outdone themselves, creating a meal that perfectly captured the spirit of the holiday. The main course featured a 'Chicken Supreme with Creamy Sundried Bacon and Tomato Sauce,' paired with this savoury delight was 'Creamy Mashed Potato', a gruesome yet irresistible side dish that had everyone talking. To add a touch of green to the ghoulish feast, the students were treated to a side of asparagus, adding a fresh contrast to the overall meal.
Of course, no Halloween feast would be complete without a selection of eerie desserts. The students were in for a sweet treat with 'Graveyard Cakes' that looked as if they had risen from the dead. These delightful confections were adorned with edible tombstones and candy bones, providing a spooky yet scrumptious end to the meal. But the surprises didn't stop there. After indulging in the graveyard cakes, the students were treated to 'Googley Eyed Milo Balls' for supper. These chocolatey, eyeball-shaped delights were a playful and delicious way to end the evening, leaving everyone with a memorable taste of Halloween.
In the end, the Halloween dinner at our boarding school was a spooktacular success. The combination of creative decorations and the delectable, themed menu made it a night to remember. It was a perfect example of the catering department going the extra mile to create memorable experiences for our students, fostering a sense of community and fun that will be cherished for years to come. We can't wait to see what next year's Halloween celebration has in store for us!
