Sporting Spotlight

Competitions are heating up with some great games this week. Notable performances include:

  • Netball - Comets beat Frenchville 42-5

  • Interschool Basketball - the Junior team beat RGS in extra time and are looking very dominant early in the competition with a 55-22 score line against Heights College in round 1.

  • The Senior Basketball team had a great game against Lighthouse College narrowly going down 33-31 in very tough 36 degree conditions. Our Senior girls were short on players and are all new to basketball. Their season is looking promising as they get some more experience in the coming weeks.

Senior Touch is now into round 3 and our teams are improving out of sight each week, with some really close games.

New competitions are also starting up this week with the Secondary Interschool Rugby 7s and Junior Club Touch Football. Good luck for the season ahead.

Come and try rowing sessions also started this week. Sessions are held at the RGGS gym on Thursday’s from 3.15pm - 4.00pm. If you are interested in attending, please email Mrs Doherty to register.

The QISSN team has started their preparations with weekly training, fixtures in the RNA competition, and strength and conditioning training with coaches from Vector Health. The QISSN team will work hard over the next four months to head to Mackay to take on Queensland’s best high school netballers.

Congratulations to Abbey (Year 7) and Lola (Year 9) for their selection in the RDS Football team, Ava (Year 7) for her selection in the RDS Touch team, and Abbey (Year 12) for her selection in the RDS Basketball team. Well done girls.
