Sporting Spotlight: Girls Grammar Capricornia Representatives, Ella Sevens & Rowing News

Capricornia Selections

We would like to congratulate Lola, Dale and Leah on their Capricornia Selections.

Lola has been selected in the Capricornia football team to go to the State Titles in Brisbane in May and Dale will attend the Rugby 7s State Titles for Capricornia in Hervey Bay.

Leah was selected in the Capricornia softball team, and she went to Brisbane over the weekend for her State Title where she was selected in the QLD talent merit team. Leah also received the Joyce Lester award for being selected for this Capricornia team for six consecutive years. Well done Leah.

Ella Sevens

At the end of last week Tahlya, Rosie and Veronica went to Sydney to play in the Ella Sevens tournament.

The Ella Sevens is the flagship Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rugby Union Sevens Tournament, that attracts around 400 athletes. The girls played in the Lloyd McDermott QLD Development team in the 16 years division. We would like to congratulate them on this fabulous achievement.

Rowing News

At the end of this month Calli and Georgia will be attending the Australian Rowing Championships in Western Australia. The girls will compete in the club portion of the event for Rockhampton Fitzroy Rowing Club and then compete on behalf of Girls Grammar in the school’s portion of the championships. They have been training hard with 2-3 early morning on water sessions, gym sessions and ergo sessions each week in their preparation and we wish them all the best.

Georgia has also been selected in the QLD Pathways squad. Georgia will represent QLD against teams from the other states at the National Underage Selection Regatta in Penrith in April. This is a fantastic achievement, and we wish you all the best.
