On Thursday 5 May, I had the privilege to fly down to the Gold Coast to attend a fantastic 2-day workshop at the amazing and prestigious, Bond University.
Day 1 was action packed with a tour of the stunning, historical campus led by current students of Bond. I saw the endless facilities and opportunities that Gold Coast has to offer. Following the tour entrepreneur, Samantha Howard, gave an innovative presentation on the key skills required for a successful businesswomen. Our skills were then put to the test and different groups were given five minutes to curate a business product and present it. After a delicious lunch, the technology rooms had some fun software waiting to be tested. The technology programs showed the elements of different businesses and leading economies from all across the globe. To finish the day, we had some amazing speakers talk about life at Bond, financial aids on offer and an overview for the second day of the workshop.
Day 2: The Challenge. Day two had all the groups in the spotlight. There was an informative lecture from an economist in regard to the tourism industry in Australia and how it can be elevated. Our groups were required to compile a business model/plan to innovate the future of tourism on the Gold Coast. Fueled by another fantastic lunch, it was time to showcase our business model with a five-minute speech to the audience and panel of judges.
Overall, it was a fantastic, rewarding experience where I met so many new amazing people, and explored opportunities to help me achieve the career of my dreams. I discovered many ways to reach my goals between now and beyond high school. With the help of the lovely staff of Girls Grammar and Bond University, I had the pleasure to represent my school in pursuit of opportunities for female education.
