Unleashing Creativity: A Term of Artistic Exploration and Skill Development in The Arts

Our students have been hard at work in the Arts, expressing their creativity and exploring new skills. Here’s a snapshot of their term:

Music

Primary students are learning about musical elements and composition, while Year 5 and 6 are excited to share their Soundtrap creations. Year 7 students are preparing a percussion performance of 'We Don’t Talk About Bruno'. Year 8 students are diving into DJing and creating digital music. Year 9 and 10 are mastering Foley artistry for Spooky Photo projects, leading to their Film Composition assessments. Senior Music students in Year 11 finished their first performance assessment, while Year 12 completed their IA2 innovation compositions.

Drama

Year 7 students are exploring the elements of drama, while Years 8, 9, and 10 are studying 'Perspectives of Humanity', using monologues and duologues to reflect on the human condition. Senior Drama students are undertaking an in-depth exploration of dramatic elements through performances for Year 11 and the creation of unique dramatic concepts for Year 12.

Visual Arts

Primary students are creating a variety of artworks exploring different media and topics, including First Nations art, Early Australian Modernism and Still Life. Year 7 students are using grid drawing processes to achieve an accurate representation of their own face and then applying bold colour and patterns to create an exciting Pop Art composition. Year 8 students are exploring natural materials and clay to express ideas relating to Environmental Art and Land Art, in their 'Earthbound' unit. Wearable Art creations are underway in Years 9 and 10, where artworks are required to represent and challenge perspectives relating to the human use of the natural environment. The high quality artworks being produced by Year 11 students are outstanding and we look forward to presenting them along with the Year 12 students’ final bodies of work, in the Arts exhibition next semester.

Dance

Primary students are learning to work in groups, using dance to convey meaning. Year 5 in particular are creating a music video based about the topic of Education on Recycling. Year 7 students are exploring 'Expressing Emotion', while Year 8 students are mastering choreographic devices in their 'Meaningful Movement' unit. Year 9 and 10 students are studying First Nations cultural dances in their 'Australian Dance' unit.

Our students’ dedication and creativity continue to inspire, making this term a vibrant celebration of the Arts!
