Welcome Back from Girls Grammar Principal, Kara Krehlik

I hope this newsletter finds you all well and refreshed after our three-week mid-year break. Welcome back to Term 3 at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School! As we pass the halfway point of the school year, we are excited to reunite with students, families and staff, as well as extend a warm welcome to new members joining our school community.

We are thrilled to introduce the following staff members who have recently joined our team:

Emily Alley (Food, Textiles, and Hospitality)

Nicole Francis-Leah (Visual Arts)

Vicky O'Brien (Secondary Business and Literacy)

Jacqui Dobson (Communications and Marketing Coordinator)

Tarni Anderson – Casual Boarding Supervisor

Mackenzie Winter - Casual Boarding Supervisor

Nola Pontifex – Casual Boarding Supervisor

Please join us in extending a warm Rockhampton Girls Grammar School welcome to these talented individuals who bring their expertise and passion to enrich our school community.

Semester 2 has already kicked off with a flurry of activity and enthusiasm. Students and staff have been hard at work with musical camp, preparing for the highly anticipated performance of Anastasia the Musical. The dedication and effort put into the set and rehearsals promise to make it a truly memorable and extraordinary show. Tickets are now available on our website and at trybooking.com. We encourage all members of our community to support our talented performers by attending this fantastic event in just two weeks’ time.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the recent NAIDOC assembly. This year's theme, 'For Our Elders,' allowed us to pay tribute to the invaluable contributions of our Elders in both the school and broader community. Across all generations, our Elders hold a special place, and their wisdom and guidance play a pivotal role in shaping our Girls Grammar students. It was a heartwarming and meaningful assembly that brought our community together in honouring our Indigenous heritage. We are delighted to have all our students back with us, including those who joined us from Far North Queensland this week. Our school community is at its best when all members are present, and we look forward to the energy and enthusiasm that each student brings to the learning environment.

Next week, we turn our focus to celebrating the Semester 1 academic achievements of our students in Year 4 to 12 during our half yearly Academic Assembly. It's a time to recognise and applaud their hard work, dedication, and progress throughout the first semester. We are proud of all their accomplishments and encourage parents and guardians to join us in acknowledging their efforts.

In addition, we have important curriculum preparations underway, with subject selection evenings on Monday and Wednesday and the eagerly awaited Year 10 camp. During this camp, students will delve into the world of neuroscience, learning about the brain, and discovering effective study habits. They will also have the opportunity to choose their senior subjects for Years 11 and 12 whilst meeting with Dr Fry, Deputy Principal- Studies.

As we embark on this new term and semester, I want to express my gratitude to all members of the Rockhampton Girls Grammar School community for your ongoing support and dedication to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our students. Together, I look forward to making Term 3 a successful and rewarding experience for everyone.
